Ensemble — licence
Copyright © 2026 Dean Wyns. All rights reserved.

Ensemble is free to use. It is not open source: the copyright in the program
and in its source code stays with the author, and this licence grants the
rights below and no others.

WHAT YOU MAY DO

1. Use it, free of charge, for as long as you like, on as many computers as
you like. Privately and at work alike: there is no separate commercial
licence, no per-seat fee, no registration and no trial period.

2. Pass on the official packages — the .deb, .rpm, .AppImage and .tar.zst
published at https://dl.ensemble.wyns.dev — unchanged and complete, with
this licence included. Mirrors, a package built from the published tarball,
a copy on an internal file server: all fine, as long as the files are the
ones that were published and nothing is charged for the program itself.

WHAT YOU MAY NOT DO

3. Sell the program, or a licence to it, or bundle it into something that is
sold as being partly this program. Charging for a service around it —
installing it, supporting it — is not what this forbids.

4. Change the program, take it apart, decompile it or build something from
what you find inside it, and pass any of that on. Where the law of your
country grants you a right to decompile that no contract may take away
(in the EU, for interoperability), that right is untouched by this clause.

5. Remove or alter the author's name, this licence, or the notices in the
   program.

NO WARRANTY

6. Ensemble is provided as is. There is no warranty of any kind, express or
implied, including but not limited to merchantability and fitness for a
   particular purpose.

7. Ensemble asks four daemons that run as root — LACT, CoolerControl, OpenRGB
and power-profiles-daemon — to change settings on your hardware, including
clocks, voltages, power limits and fan speeds. Those settings can damage
hardware, shorten its life or cause data loss. You use them at your own
risk. To the fullest extent the law allows, the author is not liable for
any damage, of any kind, arising from the use of this program.

8. If a court finds part of this licence unenforceable, the rest stands.
